Warning: Rather avoid Vlei Street this afternoon

Residents can be in for a long drive home this afternoon as Vlei Street has apparently been closed for traffic.

Express could not confirm for a fact that the road is indeed closed, as we are receiving conflicting reports.

Around 4pm cars were already queuing along Beukes Road in Glen Marais to join Pretoria Road at Pampoenpaleis.

Motorists are advised to try and use alternative routes.

Water started flooding the road around noon but cars were still crossing.

Motorists not aware of the situation are turning around, causing further traffic congestion.
