Social club continues to leave a mark

"The satisfaction is in giving. Most learners who come from poor family background lack self-confidence and end up not doing well in their academic results."

Bakgotsi Social Club members donated full school uniforms to 17 learners at Tembisa High School.

The Tembisa-based social club has been committed to the school for over 20 years.

This year’s hand-over of uniforms took place last Thursday.

According to the club’s secretary, Mr John Mngadi, a number of the club’s members are former students of Tembisa High School and they aim to plough back into the school.

“The satisfaction is in giving. Most learners who come from poor family background lack self-confidence and end up not doing well in their academic results. Through this donation, we hope to uplift their spirits.

“We want them to be diligent in their school work, to develop personal discipline and one day, take over from us,” said Mr Mngadi.

Mr Mngadi said the club raises money from corporate sponsorship and through golf events.

“The money that is used to buy the school uniform is not from our club’s pocket, we raise it,” said Mr Mngadi.

The Tembisa High School’s acting principal Mr Charles Mokoena, said, “This donation will make a huge difference to our learners and the school.”
