Deceased homeless man needs to be identified

One of the deceased had been knocked over by a car and the other was homeless

KEMPTON police need the community’s help in identifying the bodies of two deceased males.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali both bodies are currently at the Germiston mortuary.

In the most recent incident, a homeless Coloured man was found dead at a vacant house on Du Plessis Street on Wednesday last week. Police were called to the scene at 6.45am.

“No visible wounds were found on the deceased’s body. Upon enquiring from other homeless people, they told police the deceased’s name was Sam Baasjan but they did not know where he came from or who his next of kin was,” Mtshali explained.

The second man died in hospital on January 28 after being hit by a car the previous day.

“The deceased, estimated to be about 50 years old, was knocked down by a car at about 8pm on the corner of Barbara and Isando roads. He was taken to Tembisa Hospital with severe head injuries.”

He succumbed to his injuries the next morning at 8.30am.

Police appeal to anyone with information about the identities of the deceased to contact Det W/O Joel Makhura on 011-393-8763 or Capt Jethro Mtshali on 011-393-8600.
