Children’s Trust hands out hampers to learners

The programme provides learners with nutritious meals, adult supervision and a safe environment where they can do homework

The Peermont Children’s Trust (PCT) recently sponsored orphans and vulnerable learners with 628 food hampers ahead of the winter school holidays as part of its After School Care Programme.

Welamlambo Primary School in Tembisa received 75 of these hampers.

Learners from Welamlambo Primary School were all smiles after receiving food hampers from the Peermont Children’s Trust.

“The Trust is committed to improving the lives of these learners and it’s an incredibly humbling experience to see the children’s faces light up with joy when they receive the food hampers,” comments Tshidi Madima, PCT chairperson.

The programme provides learners with nutritious meals, adult supervision and a safe environment where they can do homework. In addition, learners also receive new uniforms at the beginning of a new school year.

Started in 2005, the PCT operates across 22 primary schools in Ekurhuleni and has provided support to more than 8 500 learners over the years.
