FAMSA feeds families on #MandelaDay

FAMSA took action against poverty on Mandela Day by serving soup and bread to the community.
On July 18, the organisation spent their day helping the less fortunate, including adults and children from the neighbourhood.
Standing outside at their gate with two huge pots of hot and delicious soup and fresh bread, the staff members dished up for every person who stood in line for a meal, some of them their only one for the day.
FAMSA’s national executive director Naku Masuku said it was important for the organisation to take care of those who do not have families of their own, or who have lost contact with them.
“As an organisation that is mandated to help build healthy families in the community, we decided to take care of those who do not have a family to turn to. By providing warm food for them, we felt this would help people feel the warmth and love they are missing,” Masuku explained.
“That is what Mandela wanted: for people to have a family and a feeling of belonging.”
