Young Tembisans set up an internet TV station
The online station will provide a platform to aspiring broadcasting enthusiasts to learn more on TV broadcast right here in Tembisa
Tembisa is the second biggest and a progressive township that is expected to set an example to neighbouring townships.
Many young people question the failure of the township to have its own television station.
The question went unanswered until a group of young people took action by setting up an internet TV station called Ras-station.
Steven “The art prophet” Khonou said the online station will provide a platform to aspiring broadcasting enthusiasts to learn more on TV broadcast right here in Tembisa.
He said the online station held auditions on June 30 and it was officially introduced to the public.
The art prophet said currently training workshops are run to equip crew and presenters with relevant broadcasting skills before the channel can stream live on the internet.
He said Ras- is short for Rasta and the station seeks to cater for the neglected Rasta community.
“We recruit everyone to broadcast even if you are not a Rasta.
The content will serve every spiritual community. Spiritual communities have a right to broadcast and publish their indigenous knowledge,” said Khunou.
He said the Ras-station will touch lives everywhere around the world where there is internet access.
“Our footprint will extend to Jamaica, England and the whole of Africa.
We will have a global reach. Everywhere there’s a need for this platform because mainstream media has censored Rasta content.”
He said auditions were a success and the training workshops are coming alright.
“The presenters have displayed good talent and we are looking forward to exciting TV.
The intake of presenters and content producers is going to be an ongoing exercise as we will have more auditions.”
He said Ras-station will have health shows, spiritual and wealth shows. “We will also run commercials.
We are not yet sponsored but we are open for any type of funding. Three sponsors are interested in getting on board.”
He said interested media employees can submit their show reels.
The mere fact that we are based in Tembisa aspiring broadcasters in Tembisa will benefit from this project.
He said their first project is to document the life of a local business man and a humanitarian who started an empire and is Tembisa based Somdaka funeral services.
