Police get 126 behind bars during weekend operations

Ekurhuleni Northcluster SAPS made inroads to curb crime over the weekend

Ekurhuleni North Cluster SAPS arrested 126 suspects from Friday afternoon until Sunday.

Capt Neldah Sekgola said 73 of the suspects were found driving vehicles while under the influence of alcohol, 24 were arrested at Rabie Ridge SAPS while 16 were arrested in Kempton Park.

“Five suspects were arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, six for assault and eight for shoplifting.

Other suspects were arrested for cases such as house break-ins, possession of dagga and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles,” said Sekgola.

She said all the suspects arrested were expected to appear in their respective magistrate courts on Monday to face their charges.
