Eight nabbed for drugs and drive under the influence of alcohol

The suspects, aged between 29 and 35, will appear in Kempton Magistrate's Court

EIGHT people have been arrested for the possession of drugs and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The arrests came as a result of a joint crime operation between the Kempton SAPS and the metro police department. The stop and search operation took place on August 4 at 8pm and lasted until 4am the next day.

Roadblocks were also set up at various hot spots.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, the police’s spokesperson, the operation resulted in four people being arrested for being in possession of drugs. The suspects were apprehended at a block of flats in Long Street and the others on the corner of Long and Monument Roads.

“Four motorists driving under the influence of alcohol were also arrested,” Mtshali said.

The suspects, aged between 29 and 35, will appear in the Kempton Magistrate court on drug related charges and suspected driving under the influence of alcohol.
