Man’s body found next to R23 in Glen Marais

The man had been bound at his hands and feet

The body of a man, believed to be in his 20s, was found in a veld off the R23 in Glen Marais on Thursday morning.

Russel Meiring, spokesperson for ER24, said paramedics were called to the scene after a worker from a nearby farm spotted the body.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene 8.30am and found local authorities already in attendance. Paramedics were lead to the body, found lying about 600 metres away from the road,” Meiring said.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the man had sustained several large wounds to his head and showed no signs of life. The man had been bound at his hands and feet.

Details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities will conduct further investigations.
