25 injured as truck rolls off the R24 at Gillooly’s

Twenty-five people were left injured this morning (Thursday) when a truck rolled off the R24 east bound at the Gillooly’s interchange.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene to find the truck on its wheels on the grass island. The occupants that had been on the back of the vehicle were found lying across the scene, Russel Meiring of ER24 said.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that 25 people had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Two patients lay trapped inside the cad of the small truck.

Rescue services had to use specialised equipment to free the two men from the vehicle.

Once freed, paramedics treated the patients and transported them to various hospitals in the area.
