Local choir needs funds to attend overseas festival
The choir was invited to perform at the Interkultur 6th Canta Al Mar Choral Music International Festival
MEMBERS of the Light of Hope Church choir have been invited to take part in an international festival in Spain in October.
The fifty-member choir was invited to perform and represent South Africa in the Interkultur 6th Canta Al Mar Choral Music International Festival competition in Barcelona from October 24 to 29 this year.
However, because most of the choir members are pensioners and full-time students, they can’t afford to pay for the trip themselves.
As a result, the Olifantsfontein church is requesting donations from the public to raise funds for the ensemble.
The cost per member is R15 000 for flight and accommodation.
The church will also host a Golf Day on Tuesday (August 29) at the State Mines Country Club in Brakpan, to raise funds.
“We request a minimum contribution of R350 per player or R1400 per four-ball. This includes a prize-giving dinner. “The watering holes can also be sponsored at R5000 per hole. Each sponsored hole entitles one to a free four-ball.
“In addition, the putting green and the dinner hall can be sponsored at R10 000 each. The latter sponsorships entitle each person to two free four-ball entries.
“We also welcome any prizes and donations. These will all be acknowledged at the prize-giving dinner. Please note that caddie fees, carts and drinks will be for your own account.”
Carts can be booked directly with the country club on 011 740 9962.
All proceeds can be paid into the following Nedbank Savings Account:
