Grade 12 girl goes missing – last seen on August 20

Missing Grade 12 learner left home allegedly to stay with a boyfriend

Patricia Tladi is looking for her missing daughter, Nthabiseng Rachel Tladi, who was last seen on August 20.

The mother of three said the Grade 12 Tersia King Learning Academy School learner left home without giving her a reason.

She said around 4pm her child asked to go out for ten minutes to hand over a book to one of her friends.

“Nthabiseng took a long time to come back home and when I asked her why she came home so late, Nthabiseng did not respond.

I advised my daughter a long time ago not to come home late because she already had a child who needed her. I told Nthabiseng that as a mother she needed to behave. She must focus on her studies and I advised her that if the guy loved her, he would wait and encourage her to write her exams.

Nthabiseng decided to leave home without telling me the reason. I suspect her boyfriend used money to lure her and win her heart. Sometimes I failed to fulfill what I promised her because I have other children to look after as well,” said Patracia.

Patracia believes that some of her daughter’s friends influenced her to behave badly.

“My daughter has a little boy. I advised her not to date many boys because she will end up nowhere. I suspect my daughter was dating many boys,” said Patracia.

She read what she said was an SMS message from her missing daughter: “Mama I am so sorry and I am tired of disappointing you and mak[ing] you angry all the time.”

Patracia said she responded by SMS, saying: “Come back home my child so that we can talk. Running away is not a solution for your future and it won’t solve anything. I wish you would come back and write your exams.”

Patracia said her daughter’s cellphone is off and she assumes Nthabiseng only switched it on when she sent the SMS.

“I tried to call her: however, her cellphone went to voice mail. I once asked my daughter to bring her boyfriend home so we could be introduced to the guy and know what he looks like. Nthabiseng did not do so. I want my daughter to come back home. Her child needs her and she must know that she is loved and we want her to have a bright future,” said the mother.

“Nthabiseng and her baby’s father are not together anymore. Nthabiseng sent an SMS message to her baby’s father instructing him to come to my house and take the baby. I can’t give the child to him. If Nthabiseng wants to do so she must come take the child and give it him,” said Patracia.

People with information on Nthabiseng’s whereabouts are encouraged to call Patracia on 073 818 4531 or Nthabiseng’s aunt Carol Tladi on 060 911 7525.
