Resident tackles filth in Esther Park

Some of the homeless people helped her to pick up rubbish on Friday

ZUKY Zwane, a member of the ward 104 committee, has embarked on a clean-up campaign of Esther Park proper.

She is focusing her efforts on the storm-water drain on Sable Street. She says there is a lot of residential rubble being dumped in this drain.

There is also a lot of pollution further towards CR Swart Drive.

She is attempting to create awareness among residents about the pollution problem, including passers-by and the many vagrants living in the veld area.

Some of the homeless people helped her to pick up rubbish on Friday. Some residents from Esther Park also helped her.

She says rubbish has been dumped in the area for many years. Waste management supplied her with black bags, gloves, masks and pickers.

She will also ask waste management to assist with the clean-up.
