Five people, including two children, injured in two accidents
In another accident on Saturday afternoon three people were injured
Two children were left injured on Sunday afternoon when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Monument and Voortrekker roads.
The accident happened shortly before 2pm.
Two men, two women and five children were in the two vehicles involved. The children’s ages range from two to 13 years.
The metro police and ER24 attended to the scene.
In another accident on Saturday afternoon between a large truck and bakkie three people were injured.
The accident happened just after 3.30pm on the N12 near Tom Jones Street.
Werner Vermaak of ER24 said the bakkie was wedged between the truck and a bridge pillar. Firefighters used rescue equipment to free the trapped driver from the bakkie.
“Once the man was freed, he was treated for moderate injuries. A woman was also found in the bakkie with minor injuries. Paramedics explained they expected the worst when they initially saw the wreckage,” Vermaak added.
The driver of the truck sustained moderate injuries. He was treated on the scene and later transported, along with the occupants of the bakkie, to a nearby hospital for further care.
It is understood both vehicles were travelling on the N12 in the direction of Johannesburg when the collision occurred.
