Silent marchers to take a stand against trafficking
With this single-file-line march residents will walk for the nameless and the voiceless
DRESSED in black T-shirts and with their mouths covered with yellow bandanas, residents will host a silent protest walk against human trafficking on Saturday, October 14.
The walk, organised by the A21 organisation, in conjunction with Kaleideo Community Church and City Gate Recordings from Midrand, will start at Avion Park on Highveld Road at 9am. Registration is from 8am.
“With this single-file-line march, we will walk for the nameless and the voiceless. We call on Kemptonians to join us at Avion Park for the 3.5km march, which is free of charge,” Beninca Steyn of A21 said.
A21, which stands for Abolishing Slavery in the 21st Century, is a non-profit organisation with the goal of ending modern-day slavery.
“This is a silent protest, a signature line of participants walking against slavery and human trafficking,” added Steyn.
The goal of the walk is also to raise money for A21 survivors who have been helped by the organisation. Companies can register for a team walk and raise funds or sponsor their members. People can also walk as individuals.
You can also sign up all your friends and ask them to donate a specific amount for the walk.
There will be entertainment on the day, with performances by Blaque Nubon and Lily Milion from City Gate Recordings.
