Man looking for missing mother
He is struggling to get his son an unabridged birth certificate.
Abednego Maseko (64) appeals to the community to assist him in finding Nokubonga Sibiya.
Maseko said Nokubonga abandoned her child, Siyabonga Sibiya, when he was only three days old.
“I am struggling to get Siyabonga an unabridged birth certificate and a court ordered I placed an article in a newspaper in order to notify Nokubonga to come forward and assist with matter,” said Maseko.
Maseko adopted Siyabonga after he was made aware of the abandoned boy who was brought to social workers by Tembisa Hospital employees.
He said when he took in Siyabonga he was three months old and he raised him as his own child.
“I knew one of the social workers and upon knowing about the boy I expressed my interest to adopt the child. I did all the relevant paperwork but today I am facing a serious problem. Siyabonga is eight years old but he cannot visit my family outside of South Africa. I am told he needs to have an unabridged birth certificate. I am begging Nokubonga Sibiya to come forward and help me to apply for the certificate,” said Maseko.
He said whenever he goes to visit with the child officials turn him back at the border gate.
