Tembisan lad creates social network

Mark Elliot Zuckerberg is honoured for establishing the Facebook social network platform in 2004 while Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams are honoured for creating Twitter in March 2006.

In 2010 Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger co-founded Instagram and since then the digital world has seen a number of mobile applications emerge which connect people around the world and enable them to form extended relationships.

While all these platforms have made access to information a simplified exercise, many critics argue that these platforms have contributed enormously to our moral degeneration by failing to filter shared negative content across the globe.

As a result, scores of young people consume damaging digital content that destroys their humanity.

Karabo Malete is one of few digital creatives who believes that a dose of positive content a day could restore morality and instil positive thinking in young people.

Malete has created a motivational social network called Infodraph which allows users to read and share positive quotes and inspirational content that can guide them in the right direction.

The former web developer left his full-time job to pursue his dream of creating mobile apps and becoming a digital entrepreneur.

“That was the birth of Infodraph. The platform is about perpetuating and promoting positive content. It is a tool that will enable people around the world to communicate on a motivational level. A whopping 90 per cent of the content that young people get exposed to on social networks is bad content. As a person you become who you are because of what you consume mentally. Are you reading what makes you a better citizen, are you reading something that will make you grow?” asks Malete.

He said Infodraph is based purely on positive content and he promises there will never be pop ups that will redirect users to negative content.

Malete said what is exciting about the platform is that the user can interact with the person who posted the quote by either responding or ‘liking’ the content.
