Work up a sweat in aid of Baby Mienke
Register now for the Miles for Mienke Sweat for a Cause Fund-raising Initiative.
Residents are invited to support the Miles for Mienke Sweat for a Cause Fund-raising Initiative in Kempton Park on November 4.
This event is for Mienke Mulder, also known as Miracle Mienke, the six-month-old baby who choked on her milk at day care in August.
After her heart stopped beating for over 15 minutes she suffered brain damage and the Mulder family’s lives changed in a heartbeat.
Mienke and her family are initially from Benoni and recently relocated to Nelspruit.
Since the accident, Mienke’s mother, Verna, has been staying with family in Benoni with her other two children, as Mienke has been transferred to a rehab facility in Johannesburg.
Mienke’s father, Ryno, travels between Johannesburg and Nelspruit for work.
The fund-raising initiative will be in the form of a fitness day that will be held at the Pit Fitness Lab at 12 Pomona Road.
All proceeds from the fund-raising initiative will be donated to the Mienke Mulder Trust Fund and assist with Mienke’s rehabilitation, which started at the end of September.
People are encouraged to enter, donate and take part in any or all of the different fitness challenges available on the day.
Registration closes on November 1.
“We appeal to the community to open their hearts while working up a sweat for a cause,” said the event organiser, Marise Groenewald.
“We want to go the distance and put as many fitness miles as possible behind the cause.”
