Gauteng Young Vision encourages Tembisa youth

Gauteng Young Vision (GYV) hosted a career exhibition and unemployment youth workshop for the out of school youth at Ikusasa Comprehensive School on October 4. The founder and managing director of GYV, Elias Sibeko, said the organisation partnered with the Department of Labour, University of Johannesburg, Miss Trendy and local community leaders of Ward 4 to present the career exhibition and unemployment youth workshop.

“The aim of the project was to uplift young people and share learning information to unlock the closed doors in their lives,” said Sibeko.

The project was also used as a strategy to alleviate poverty through labour data capturing from those who are unemployed. They also extended it to a career guidance where the University of Johannesburg’s exhibitor pastor Andy Balaram talked to the young people about living a positive lifestyle. They were given information on bursaries, internships and other community development projects.

He said one of GYV leaders Moyahabo Madimabe, a young girl from Pretoria, is a new member of GYV and she was motivating her peers by encouraging them to believe in themselves.

“GYV’s deputy director Zenzele Zwane talked about youth engagement in community and volunteer work as a strategy of channelling themselves to companies.”
