Panorama School hosts golf day to raise funds

Last year, Kempton Panorama raised R20 000.

KEMPTON Panorama school was out on the golf course at Kempton Park Golf Club on October 20 to raise money for its learners.

The golf day is an annual event held by the school, with donations made by companies that take part in the charity event.

All proceeds will be used to provide school transportation and clothing for the needy learners, who come from places such as Brakpan, Tembisa, Benoni, Alexandra and others across Ekurhuleni.

Fransli Buckle, occupational therapist at Kempton Panorama School, said the school is committed to ensuring that its school leavers are equipped with enough skills in order to be employable when they leave school.

Buckle thanked the 27 sponsors who took part in the golf day.

“We would also like to challenge other people and companies to assist us with donations for our school leavers and help provide employment opportunities,” Buckle said.

“These learners can be educated and trained. They have skills in various fields such as woodwork, metalwork, mechanics, panel-beating, cooking and spray-painting.”

Buckle said it was very important that the learners receive proper training as it is extremely difficult to find work after leaving school.

“Your contribution will assist us to enable the youth for the better and therefore create a better future for South Africa,” Buckle said.
