Debris halts traffic on R21 following accident

Four people were left injured on Wednesday afternoon following a collision between two trucks and a taxi on the R21 east bound before the Olifantsfontein Road intersection.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene just after 2pm to find all three vehicles in the two right-hand lanes of the highway. Loads of plastic bags, that had been on the back of one of the trucks, was spread across a number of the lanes, Russel Meiring of ER24 said.

Paramedics assessed 10 people found on the scene and found four had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. The patients were treated for their injuries and transported to hospital.

Traffic was heavily affected in the area due to the debris on the highway.
