The stage is set for the O.R Tambo Choral Music Excellence Competition.

The City of Ekurhuleni is ready and set to celebrate OR Tambo’s 100th birthday through musical harmonies over the weekend.

The undying spirit of OR Tambo, the great musical conductor, will see choirs from across the city battle it out at the OR Tambo Choral Music Excellence Competition set to take place on Saturday and Sunday at  Germiston City Hall.

“The choir festival is an annual event that is attended by many choirs and musical lovers,” said Themba Radebe, the metro’s spokesperson.

“This year, we will be elevating the competition to greater heights by including a variety of music genres.”

All participating choirs stand a chance to win prizes to the value of R400 000.

This year’s categories include:

• High School Choirs

• Church Choirs

• Community Choirs

• Male Voice Choirs

“Entrance to the competition is free and the audience should dress in white on Sunday.

On both days the competition will start at 9am.”
