A 45-year-old man is expected to appear in Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on October 30 for the alleged murder of another man and for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.
Ivory Park SAPS communications officer Captain Bernard Matimulane said the police on duty were called to the scene in the early hours of October 21 after they received a complaint that someone had been shot.
“Upon their arrival at the scene in Ebony Park, the police quickly organised an ambulance to come to attend to the two victims who were in a vehicle. One of the victims didn’t show any sign of life and was certified dead on the scene. The lady was taken to hospital.
“The deceased is 39 years old and the lady is 21.
“The suspect, who introduced himself as the woman’s boyfriend and said that they were living together in Ebony Park, handed himself over to the police, telling them he was the one who shot the two in a fit of rage,” explained Matimulane.
Matimulane said the man was arrested and charged with murder and attempted murder.
“The firearm, with its rounds of ammunition, has been handed to the police by the suspect himself for further investigations,” added Matimulane.
