The bin can be obtained at the temporary identified central distribution spot or at the nearest waste management depot.
What happens if I lose my bin?
(i) Where a wheelie bin is reported as stolen the household must approach the nearest depot to re-apply for a replacement (within 24 hours of theft).
(ii) Council will replace the wheelie bin free of charge provided a police case number and an affidavit is submitted from the resident stating that the bin has been stolen.
(iii) The report of the stolen bin will be recorded and should any further bins be reported as stolen, the council reserves the right to charge the household for replacement of the bin. A minimal replacement fee equivalent to 20 per cent of the bin cost will be levied.

Who is liable should the bin be damaged?
If there is proof that the bin is damaged by council employees during collection, the replacement will be free. If the bin is damaged by the residents, a minimal replacement fee equivalent to 20 per cent of the bin cost will be levied.
What should I do should a single 240l bin not be sufficient for me?
An additional bin can be requested from the depot at no procurement cost to the resident but an additional monthly service fee of R150.92, VAT exclusive, will be charged.

Residential properties are compelled to utilise council services and therefore cannot use private service providers.

Once the distribution of wheelie bins is completed in a given ward, council will no longer collect any waste not placed inside the 240l wheelie bin.
