Two women were arrested for defrauding a money market at Tembisa Plaza on October 22.
Tembisa South SAPS communication officer, Capt Neldah Sekgobela, said the women allegedly managed to withdraw money which did not belong to them at a money market shop.
“The complainant deposited an amount of R 1000 on Thursday at one of the money market shops at Isithama Section in Tembisa and deposited another R2 000 in Ebony Park near Ivory Park on Friday. The money was meant for her mother who lives in Limpopo province,” said Sekgobela.
She said the complainant was surprised when her mother told her she received no money.
“The complainant went back to Ebony Park, where she made the second deposit, to find out what happened. That’s when it was discovered that all the money was withdrawn by one of those women at a money market shop in Tembisa Plaza.”
The suspect and her friend were arrested on Sunday and are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to face their charges of fraud.
