Kempton officers refuse bribe from alleged drug dealer

The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and bribery

Signs of integrity were witnessed when the Kempton Park SAPS officers refused a bribe from a suspect who was found in possession of drugs last Tuesday.

The Kempton Park Crime Prevention Unit arrested the suspect on the corner of Monument and Kerk streets during their routine stop-and-search operation.

“The suspect was stopped and searched and was allegedly found to be in possession of about four small packets containing drugs,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS.

“It is alleged that when they arrived at the police station he (suspect) offered police R300 for his release but the officers refused to be bribed.”

The suspect was arrested on charges of possession of drugs and bribery and will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s court soon.
