Technogold goldsmith still on road to recovery after robbery

Taljaard said they received a lot of support from people after the incident

THE armed robbery that took place at Technogold Manufacturing Jewellers & Gift Shop in Festival Mall in April rattled many and left the staff traumatised.

Two people were wounded when five armed men robbed the store. Ria Coetzee, a master goldsmith at Technogold, is one of the people who was shot during the incident.

“Coetzee was shot on her right upper leg by one of the robbers,” said Sue Taljaard, owner of Technogold. “She has since gone for two operations and is currently busy with physiotherapy.”

Taljaard said they received a lot of support from people after the incident. “We don’t want to focus on the bad but rather on the good,” said Taljaard.

“After the incident, people would come in to check up on us and find out how we were holding up. They would tell us they were praying for us and give words of encouragement.”
