MANY motorists have expressed their dismay with the new road markings painted on Monument Road just outside Woodbridge Square a few weeks ago.
The markings were not even up for a week when the first complaints surfaced on social media platforms – one being it was an accident waiting to happen.
Karen Glautier was the latest to air her views to Kempton Express: “Now look, there are a few things in life that make no sense to me, but the road lines painted outside Woodbridge Square along Monument road! Now that took a lot of imagination and not too much logic.
“It would be great if someone in the roads department could request assistance from any one of the multitudes of road users who drive along there every day. My mind boggles at the complete lack of forethought that was put into the ‘new’ and certainly not ‘improved’ road markings.
“I shudder to think of the headaches this will cause and can almost foretell the number of collisions that will result.
“What was wrong with the lanes that were present before? Two lanes all the way… Basic = maybe … Logical, free-flowing, painless = definitely!”
Express contacted both the metro police and the metro on November 9 already trying to find some answers.
We wanted to know what the reason behind these yellow stripes are, whose decision it was to change the road markings at this intersection and what the purpose of these lines are.
Now, two weeks later – no reply from both, not even an acknowledgement of receipt of our emails.
