Sparky takes robotics honours at competition

Ninety-two participants were divided into 56 teams of various categories

THREE learners from two Kempton Park schools won the first prize at the AfrikaBot 2017 competition.

Daniel Buchholtz and Carmiel Mahood from Maranatha Christian School teamed up with Marco Moller from Hoërskool Kempton Park.

After much hard work and programming, their robot Sparky was the most consistent and the fastest.

The competition was hosted by the University of Johannesburg’s faculty of the built environment and supported by their school of electrical engineering). It took place at Zwartkops Raceway in October.
