Early Christmas for Little Eden residents
The handover was a joyful one full of big smiles and appreciation.
A total of 120 members of Little Eden Society in Bapsfontein, a home for children and adults with profound intellectual disabilities, have been assured of a warm Christmas this year.
This is thanks to a lovely initiative started by Aurum employee Heidi Hartley and her daughter Megan Hartley, who donated Santa Boxes containing gifts from a number of donors and sponsors to Little Eden Society.
The handover was a joyful occasion full of big smiles and appreciation. Not because there was a visit from Santa with gifts and sweets, but because the residents were able to spend the day surrounded by people who love and value them.
Many of the residents at Little Eden have been abandoned and thus have no relatives that come to visit them. So for them to have people bringing gifts and spending time with them is more than just another donation, it’s a gift of happiness and the sense of belonging. To these residents, that means everything.
Aurum Institute’s communications officer, accompanied by interested individuals from Aurum, were on hand to witness the handover.
“The experience and opportunity to have been able to meet these little angels and see the smiles on their faces was an experience that words just cannot describe,” Heidi said.
A job truly well done by Heidi and her daughter, and a big thank you to all donors/sponsors who contributed to putting a smile on the faces of the residents at Little Eden Society.
