Critically injured man dies on his way to hospital

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed after he drove into a stationary vehicle on the R21 in Boksburg on Friday night.

When ER24 arrived on the scene at about 9pm, they found the bakkie on the side of the highway. The man was entrapped and had to be extricated with the jaws of life, Ineke van Huyssteen of ER24 said.

Upon further assessment, it was found that the man was in a critical condition.

ER24 transported the man to hospital but unfortunately shortly afterwards he succumbed to his multiple injuries.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident were not yet known to paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, Van Huyssteen said.
