Santa visits feeding scheme
The monthly feeding scheme put smiles on many children’s faces
OPERATION Anti-Freeze fed 800 people on Voortrekker Road on December 6.
The event focused on disadvantaged families in the community.
“We run a feeding scheme every first Wednesday of every month and although we usually feed 600, this time we fed more,” said Hilary Tolmay, project co-ordinator and fundraiser. “This one was special because Santa was there to give a ball to every child.
“Most of the children live on the streets or come from very poor homes and for many the ball they received will be their only gift this Christmas.”
The balls given to the children were donated to the operation.
“The 400 balls were donated by HYSA and we are truly grateful to them for helping us bring some joy to these children’s lives,” said Tolmay.
The people gathered were each given a hot dog, cold drink, chocolate and a food parcel to take home.

Community member, Anna Mokgatle, was humbled by the initiative. “It is my first time coming and it is a very nice thing they are doing,” said Mokgatle.
“It is humbling when people think about others this time of year.”
Tolmay said they were glad the rain and cold weather didn’t keep anyone away.
“We are grateful to all the volunteers who braved the rain to assist us; it would not have been possible without you,” said Tolmay.
“To our donors Insurisk, who provide all the bread rolls, and Trig Distributors for providing the cold drinks and items for the food parcels every month, thank you for helping us fight hunger and feed hope.
“Another big thank you to the five women from Wesbank who assisted us to make the 800 hot dogs. Alone we can do so little but together we can accomplish much.
