Suspects arrested for two murders in Ivory Park and Kaalfontein

The victim and the one suspect reside on the same street in Kaalfontein, where the stabbing took place

Two suspects were arrested on December 17 for the alleged murders of two people in Ivory Park and Kaalfontein.

Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Captain Bernard Matimulane said in the first incident, a 33-year-old woman was arrested in Goniwe Section after the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend.

“The two are reported to have argued early yesterday after one of the parties just arrived home from a night of drinking.

“The victim, 45, died at the scene and the lady was arrested shortly thereafter.

“In the second murder scene, a 26-year-old man was also fatally stabbed by a 20-year-old man during an argument, the origin of which started at a party the night before,” Matimulane said.

“The victim and the suspect reside on the same street in Kaalfontein, where the stabbing took place.

“The victim was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on the same day.”

The station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, Brigadier David Mbongeni Ngcobo, said he is deeply saddened by these murders, especially as both were preceded by a night of heavy drinking, something he sternly warned against in his Christmas and New Year messages.

“We are on record as appealing to the residents of Ivory Park and its precincts to enjoy themselves responsibly in order to avoid unnecessary violence and deaths,” Ngcobo said.

He also appealed to tavern owners to adhere to opening and closing times, and further warned that the Ivory Park police will deal harshly with anyone who contravenes the regulations in this regard.
