Community fails to assist a stabbed man until he dies.

An unknown young man was found murdered at Kanana informal settlement on December 11.

Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela said that at about 6am on the day, the community of Kanana discovered an unknown young man fighting for his life next to a footpath when they were going to work.

“It is alleged by witnesses that the deceased was still alive and breathing when two men were sent by their sister, who walked past there in the morning, to go and observe the victim.

The two men called the ambulance and the police for help. The police came to the scene but when the paramedics arrived, he was certified dead,” said Captain Masela.

According to the community, the victim had been screaming for help since 2.30am and no one came to his rescue until 6am when passersby notified police and called an ambulance.

“The victim had been stabbed in the chest. It is unknown why he was found next to the stream crossing between Kanana Extension Five and Sophiatown. No one could identify him. Then we alerted the community to be vigilant around the spot. SAPS requests the community to come forward with information and to help us find the victim’s next of kin,” said Captain Matsobane Masela.
