New Year babies welcomed at Tembisa Hospital

27 babies were born in Tembisa on New Year’s Day.

While many were ushering in the new year of 2018, Tembisa Hospital was celebrating the arrival of 27 babies on January 1.

Tembisa Hospital spokesperson Shirley Matjila said 10 of the 27 newborns were girls and 17 were boys.

“The first baby was delivered at 0.17am, weighing 3.3kg, mother Refilwe Sikhakhane. The second baby was delivered at 2.10am, weighing 2.8kg, mother Emelia Zungwane. The third baby was delivered at 2.20am, weighing 2.3kg, mother Emely Komape.”

Mother Gugu Madlope’s baby boy, weighing in at 3.5kg, was also delivered at 2.20am, followed by Raisibe Ngoepe’s baby boy, weighing 2.7kg, at 3.26am.

The first baby was welcomed with a set of gifts brought in by Ekurhuleni district officials Mlungisi Phakathi, Thembeni Masina and Lindiwe Maduna, who were joined by Wilfred Mothwane, a nursing manager at the hospital.
