Tembisa Hospital welcomes 62 festive babies

Sets of twins were born on both Christmas and New Year's Day.

Tembisa Hospital certainly had its fair share of Christmas and New Year’s babies this festive season, while only one New Year’s baby was born at Arwyp.

Lufuno Masindi, weighing 3.03kg, was born at Arwyp at 3.10pm on New Year’s Day.

On Christmas Day, 35 babies were delivered – 19 boys and 16 girls, including a set of twins.

The first baby, a girl weighing 3.5kg, was delivered at midnight. Nursing manager Mr Mothwane presented her mother, Ellen Ndlovu, with a gift.

Rosemary Moremi gave birth to the second Christmas baby, a boy weighing 3.2kg, at 1.30am.

Barbra Ncube’s boy (4.9kg) followed at 2.28am.

At 8.35am Maria Moyama gave birth to a boy weighing 2.4kg. His twin sister was born five minutes later, weighing 2.8kg.

The 27 babies born on New Year’s Day, 10 girls and 17 boys, also included a set of twins.

The first baby was delivered by Refilwe Sikhakhane at 12.17am, weighing 3.3kg.

Refilwe also received a gift.
