WATCH: A slice of support for the SPCA
Eating pizza can (almost) be guilt-free at Festival Mall Panarottis.
Pizza-lovers can have a slice and donate too, as Festival Mall Panarottis will donate R5 from each main meal eaten on a Wednesday to Kempton Park SPCA in their A-slice-of-support-for-the-SPCA campaign.
This kind-hearted act first started in September last year. Every bit clearly makes a difference, as restaurant owner Alesha Greig estimated that the pizzeria raised about R2 000 for the SPCA in December. Although each month’s income differs, that would total about R8 000 since its inception.
“I don’t think many people look after the SPCA, so we decided to do something,” said Greig.
“Generally, people only donate to charities such as the SPCA once-off. With this project, we would like to make donations to them a continuous thing. They work extremely hard and deserve to be taken care of.”
SPCA manager Kira Sparrow appreciates this ongoing project. “If you don’t know where to go for supper, go to Panarottis. Support those who support us,” she said.
Some restaurant-goers are so positive about this initiative that they donate even more than R5, said Greig.
