Van Riebeeck Park Christmas lights bring cheer to many
The Van Riebeeck Park residents extend the spirit of giving to Van Riebeeck Park Community Police patrollers
RESIDENTS of Van Riebeeck Park have become accustomed to seeing a house in the area tastefully decorated with all the different kinds of festive lights for the past few years during the festive season.
“If you went to investigate, you would have been greeted by proud owners Ann and Peter Cherryholme and would have been shown around the ‘Christmas House’ as some call it,” said Van Riebeeck Park Community Police’s treasurer, Anne Russel.
“Peter’s hobby of dressing the house for three years has escalated because every year he adds more and more items to delight the children and parents.”
Russel said recently some visitors indicated they wanted to donate money to the couple for the tour.
“Peter doesn’t charge people to appreciate the view but welcomed those who wanted to donate. He and Ann decided to donate the money so they contacted us to donate the money to the VRP patrollers’ account so they can use it for the good of the community,” said Russel.
“A big thank you to Peter and his family for the generous donation and to those community members who support them in turn.”
