Kempton Golf Club hosts Christmas lunch for Tembisa orphans
The day was a special treat to the children who had never enjoyed Christmas before.
KEMPTON Park Golf Club made Christmas lunch for 80 orphans of Phomolong Children’s Home in Tembisa on December 25.
Executive chef of the club, Kevin Williamson, said the lunch was a special treat for the children who might not have had the pleasure of enjoying a Christmas experience before.
“I thought to myself that every year I get to have a great day with friends and family, but there are so many children out there who never get to have that on Christmas day. So, with the help of Toni Brown and Steven Roughton, we gave up our normal traditions to help start a new one for the children,” Williamson said.
The day was a big success and he thanked all the sponsors involved. They also provided a jumping a castle and a ball pond for the children to enjoy their day.
“Once everyone’s tummy was full, it was Father Christmas’ (Ian Kilburn) turn to make a spectacular entrance, not on a sleigh but on a roaring Harley Davidson. He brought gifts for the children and each child had his photograph taken with Santa.”
Williamson said staff members of the centre who were in attendance also enjoyed the traditional Christmas festivities.
