13 new police officers appointed at Olifantsfontein SAPS

A group of 13 recruits became police officers at Olifantsfontein SAPS after successfully concluding a 10-month course.

Police recruits undergo a Basic Police Development Programme (BPDP) when they enlist in the South African Police Service.

On December 28, 2017, the new recruits were welcomed by the station commander of the Olifantsfontein SAPS, Lt Col Ditabeng Rakgalakane.

Recruit Const Locretia Nhlari (26) told The Tembisan that she was ready to work diligently with members of the community in order to fight the criminal element.

“All I ever wanted is to serve and protect the citisens and their property from the criminal element. I am hoping community members will welcome us and work with us to help fight crime,” said Nhlari.

Meanwhile, Rakgalakane said he was extremely excited to get more foot soldiers on board who will help in the fight against crime in order to create a safe environment.

“I am requesting from members of the community to co-operate with the police and help with any information related to crime to report it immediately,” said Rakgalakane.

He said the station is currently faced with the high number of domestic violence cases.

“We are encouraging partners to refrain from abusing one another. It’s a criminal offense. And we are encouraging those people abused in their homes to come and report the matter,” added Rakgalakane.

Rakgalakane said residents of Clayville East are advised to implement neighbourhood watch to help reduce burglaries in the area.
