Eskom visits local winner in Chloorkop

An Ekurhuleni business walked away with a R150 000 cash prize last year.

The Eskom Development Foundation visited Reba Chemicals on Wednesday last week to see how the business was doing.

Reba Chemicals won the 2017 Eskom Business Investment Competition (BIC) and received a R150 000 cash prize.

Based in Chloorkop, Reba Chemicals did Ekurhuleni proud.

Owner of a Chloorkop based business Freddy Motau says the R150 000 cash prize helped him to grow his business.

The 36-year-old business manufactures industrial chemicals and water treatment chemicals. Owner Freddy Motau started it so he could provide locally-based solutions and replace chemicals imported from Europe and America.

Motau hopes that the BIC prize money will help the business expand.

“We are driven by constant growth and we have invested the BIC prize money towards designing a new plant. We have been fortunate to be part of the BIC, which has opened our eyes to many valuable lessons,” he said.

The BIC was launched in 2008. It gives an opportunity to registered black-owned businesses to grow their business and create more job opportunities.
