Taxi industry march will severely affect Ekurhuleni public transport on Tuesday
ETI will present a memorandum of demands to both the mayor and the speaker of council

EKURHULENI Taxi Industry (ETI) is set to march to the offices of the mayor and speaker of council in Germiston on March 20.
The organisation said there were delays in the completion of the Harambee BRT system and they are calling for both the mayor and city manager to be removed from their positions with immediate effect.
The protest will be led by ETI under the Ekurhuleni leadership of both the South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) and National Taxi Alliance (NTA).
ETI will present a memorandum of demands to both the mayor and the speaker of council.
The organisation said it was 100 per cent behind the Harambee BRT system. However, under the leadership of the current mayor, Clr Mzwandile Masina, the project continued to suffer a number of delays that were negatively affecting the roll-out of the project.
ETI said it called upon President Cyril Ramaphosa and the Gauteng premier, David Makhura, to act decisively and with speed to restore the faith and confidence of the citizens of Ekurhuleni.
On the day, public transport across Ekurhuleni will be adversely affected and residents are urged to make alternative transport arrangements to their various destinations.
The Germiston taxi rank will be the starting point of the march which will start at 10am.
