Kempton SAPS members still have all their guns
This parade, according to Maredi, will be conducted on a quarterly basis.
Kempton Park SAPS station commander Brig Samuel Maredi conducted a parade inspection for all members of the police station on Friday morning.
“The purpose of the inspection was to check whether all members still possess the equipment issued to them by the state,” said spokesperson Capt Jethro Mtshali.
This included items such as police appointment identification cards, firearms and ammunition, laptops, firearm competency certificate and a bulletproof vest.
“This exercise was done in order to verify that all state resources are used for the purpose intended and whether all the items are in possession of the members. It has been established that in some crimes police uniforms, as well as other items, are found in possession of criminals,” Mtshali added.
On Friday it was found that all the items were accounted for by the members. Officers who do not have a firearm competency certificate will be sent for training.
This parade, according to Maredi, will be conducted on a quarterly basis.
