Golf club equals its record amount donation to charity

The 2018 golf day was held on April 12 at Germiston Golf Club.

Safari Golf Club, a charitable social golf club with 68 members, handed over R400 000 to two charities.

The club was founded in 1978 in Kempton Park and holds a bi-annual charity golf day. More than R1.6-million has already been donated by the club over the years.

This year Little Eden, caring for persons with intellectual disabilities, and Abraham Kriel Childcare Centre, each received R200 000.

It is the exact amount handed to the same charities two years ago, so these two organisations have received R800 000 in the past two years.

The 2018 golf day was held on April 12 at Germiston Golf Club.

The amounts handed over equalled the record for Safari Golf Club. Donations over the past 12 years were also handed over to Miles for Smiles, Guide Dogs Association and CHOC.

Chairman Marthinus Jansen thanked all sponsors, the largest one being Oberon Pharma, all participants and André and Vicky van Heerden who steered the project.
