WATCH: Mother’s Day morning hosted at the SPCA
The event was to raise awareness for the shelter.
Mothers, grandmothers, daughters and friends came together on Saturday morning last week to celebrate Mother’s Day at Kempton Park SPCA.
A sign reading “Adopt don’t shop” welcomed about 30 women in Fitter Street where the SPCA is located. Seated at beautifully laid tables on the front lawn of the SPCA, the women chatted and laughed, despite the cold weather.
A dog named Amber walked among the guests, reminding them of the important work the society does.
“I don’t know about you, but I have the best mother,” the manager of the SPCA, Kira Sparrow, welcomed the guests.
“Moms are number one. My mom’s a total inspiration and gets me to do stuff like this. She always helps me.”
While the women enjoyed breakfast and coffee, Sparrow spoke to Express about the decision to host the event on their premises.
“We want to encourage people to visit the SPCA, so this event is really about raising awareness.”
If you missed this event, do not fear. Sparrow promised it would not be the last. “Watch this space. This was the first of many.”
