Cavendish Glen challenges local schools to blanket drive

The blankets will be donated to MES.

Winter is approaching, meaning that cold nights for the less fortunate await.

To help their fellow Kemptonians, Cavendish Glen Shopping Centre in Glen Marais is hosting a blanket drive.

“We challenge all our local schools to participate. A floating trophy will be given to the school that donates the most blankets,” manager of Intercare at the centre Ada Botes told Express.

These blankets will be donated to MES on June 2 during a family day at the centre.

Locals can look forward to many other events on this day. Intercare will give free blood pressure and weight screenings, Lancet will look at your cholesterol, while Haasbroek Optometrists will give free eye screenings. For an audio screening you can visit Kind 2 Hearing and Clicks for makeup tips and more.

Maxi’s, in partnership with the Mahala Loyalty Programme, will roll out an exciting new loyalty system on the day. Kempton Park members will be able to accumulate points on selected products and receive freebies every five to eight purchases.

Grade R to Grade One learners can look forward to building their own pizzas with Dominos while learning the history of pizzas. Entertainment sponsored by Maxi’s will include a Coca-Cola truck, dancers and a jumping castle. Vouchers will also be up for grabs.

But, before the fun can start, blankets need to be collected. Which school will win? Get going!
