
Eskom has declared stage 2 load shedding with immediate effect.
As a result, the City of Ekurhuleni started load shedding based on the 2014 schedules as advertised on its website.

According to this schedule no load shedding is currently taking place as geyser ripple control is active (geysers are switched off).
The first cycle will start at 8pm and will affect these areas until 11pm: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions.
From 10.30pm until midnight these areas will be shut down: Glen Marais, Allen Grove, Norkem Park, Birchleigh Extensions and Bonaero Park.
Friday morning from midnight until 3am: Bredell, Pomona, Glen Marais Extensions (49, 52, 89 & 98), Serengeti, Brentwood Park, Aston Manor, Nimrod Park, Parts of Kempton Park Ext 2 & Ext 4.
Friday 2.30am to 5.30am: Kempton Park CBD, Kempton Park Extensions, Croydon, Cresslawn, Rhodesfield, Kelvin Estate and Esther Park.
Friday 5am until 8am: Birchleigh, Birchleigh North, Glen Erasmia, Kaalfontein, Esselen Park and Esselen Park Extensions.
Friday 7.30am to 10.30am: Geyser ripple control.
Eskom declared Stage 2 load shedding with immediate effect. As a result, CoE will start with load shedding at 17h30 based on schedules as advertised on our website.

These measures were introduced despite Eskom still promising on Wednesday the lights would stay on, despite the industrial action, which is now hampering the delivery of coal to substations.
