More than 800 illegal posters and other advertising material were removed during a by-law blitz in Kempton Park on Thursday morning last week.

Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesperson, said members of the EMPD by-law unit, recovery unit and the metro’s outdoor advertisement officials cracked down on illegal outdoor advertising in Kempton Park from 9am to 1pm.

During the operation, 800 illegal scrap adverts posters, 60 posters without permits, 20 posters with expired permits, 21 illegal flags, five portable signs and one illegal billboard were removed and taken to the metro police’s storing facility in Spartan.

Two trailers were also confiscated and two notices were issued for illegal trading.

“The periodic special operations targeting illegal advertising and both formal and informal businesses will continue until compliance is realised,” said Kgasago.
