Young man from Tembisa solves problems through apps
He started by explaining what the RI does in assisting companies with their hospitality
A young man from Tembisa works tirelessly in devising means of solving problems by using technology.
Karabo Malete is passionate about building mobile applications (apps) to make peoples lives easier. The 27-year-old said he has created two apps after his first motivational app called Infodraph.
“I have now created a Kscanner app for ticket sales and ticket verification. I also created what I call Reservations Interface (RI) which assists restaurants, clubs and big events to manage their reservations made by clients,” said Malete.
He started by explaining what the RI does in assisting companies with their hospitality.
“What inspired the development of RI was the complaints from unhappy customers who are finding it difficult to make reservations at some restaurants and clubs. When a prospective customer calls a business to make reservations it becomes frustrating when their call go unanswered.
“When a consultant is busy, customers are put on hold and they eventually resolve to sending an email, some emails become spam. Often management won’t check spam emails,” Malete explained.
He said customers, therefore, get discouraged to make reservations due to the glitches they experience in their day to day encounter with businesses operating in the hospitality industry. Malete believes that with RI customers will forget about the difficulty of making reservations.
“With the RI app customers can choose from a list of restaurants available in the area they prefer. When they click on the restaurant of their choice they will be able to see what the restaurant is serving on that particular day or night. They can then make the reservation for the number of people they will bring and also make an order prior to their arrival.
“The system will immediately generate an automatic acknowledgement message to assure the customer that their reservation request has been received,” said Malete.
He said the management will then confirm the reservation after they have read the request.
According to Malete, management will have more time to attend to other things instead of sitting on the phones or ignoring phones because the staff is busy.
“This will save customers the frustration of making phone calls that are often not answered. Customers want the best service for their money and using RI will eliminate the customer’s inconvenience of having to call restaurants.
“Reservation requests can be made and also be accepted at the click of a button,” added Malete.
The second app Malete developed is a Kscanner app that will eliminate fraud in tickets used to enter events. He said the Kscanner app will scan tickets generated and sold through the Kscanner.
“When a customer buys a ticket through Kscanner the system will generate a unique QR code for each ticket bought and received through an email.
“Event managers will simply download the Kscanner app that will enable their mobile devices to scan the QR code. If the ticket is fake the app will detect the fake code and show an invalid ticket code message.
“If the ticket has already been scanned the mobile device will read that the ticket has already been scanned,” Malete explained.
He said Kscanner will ensure the smooth running of ticket sales, eliminate fraudulent tickets and guarantee event managers that return on investment is accurate.
He said both systems are already running and interested managers can download Kscanner from the Google Play Store.
