Brick company donates Palesa Pads to Madibatlou Middle School

The day was filled with song and dance. A demonstration and menstrual health talk were given to the girls by one of Palesa Pad’s directors, Omphemetse Plaatjies, who is also an employee of Apollo Brick.

The staff of Brakkefontein Clay Products (Pty) Ltd popularly known as, Apollo Brick, were generous to sponsor the Grade Nine girls of Madibatlou Middle School with Palesa Pads reusable sanitary pads on Mandela Day on July 18.

The day was filled with song and dance. A demonstration and menstrual health talk were given to the girls by one of Palesa Pad’s directors, Omphemetse Plaatjies, who is also an employee of Apollo Brick.

Palesa Pads, founded by Sherie de Wet in 2017, are manufactured with quality fabrics to ensure that the girls will have worry-free periods for the next five years.

Apollo Brick, one of Gauteng’s top brick manufacturers and retailers, has impacted the lives of these young girls in a time where the #keepgirlsinschool slogan has become the national anthem.

Madibatlou Middle School is a farm school, which serves learners from the surrounding farms and sections of Tembisa informal settlement.

The majority of the learners are from unemployed families.

The school is a non-fee paying school and depends on state allocation and government feeding schemes.
